Dental Cleanings & Exams

Regular checkups for the whole family, with an oral cancer screening at every routine exam.

Overview

What Happens at a Checkup

A regular checkup includes a cleaning and an exam. One of our hygienists removes the plaque and tartar that brushing and flossing leave behind. Tartar is plaque that has hardened, and only a professional cleaning can remove it. Dr. Gailey examines your teeth and gums, reviews X-rays when they're needed, and looks for anything that has changed since your last visit.

Every routine exam includes an oral cancer screening at no additional charge. We also check your gums. Early gum disease, called gingivitis, is fully reversible with professional cleaning and better home care, so catching it at a checkup matters.

Most patients come in every six months. If you have a history of gum disease, Dr. Gailey may recommend maintenance visits every three to four months instead.
